ACE – AGILITY CONDITIONING EXERCISES: Agility Fitness for Handlers
As an agility handler, you participate in this fast-paced canine sport because you love your dog. You want to enrich their life with fun, meaningful activity that satisfies their physical and mental needs. It also provides you with the perfect opportunity to bond with your dog. As a result, agility handlers sometime forget to focus on themselves and instead pour their attention and training into improving their dogs’ skills. However you would be remiss if you left yourself out of this equation since you and your dog are a team. Agility handlers need to be in shape in order to keep up with their canine companion. If you are not moving quickly or using your body correctly, you might be slowing your dog down.
Even though agility may not be an officially recognized sport, running around a course and the physical demands that it places on our bodies are similar to what you would see or experience playing many sports. Given the nature of agility, you are required to move forward, sideways, backward, both at speed and slowly, multiple times in less than 60 seconds and often much faster. You are asking a great deal of your muscles that may already be carrying an unknown imbalance.
Therefore in this class we will be doing exercises which focus on short sprinting, twisting, turning, bending, quick footwork, accelerating and decelerating. This class will also focus on strength training with just your body. It is fairly common for most people to think strength training involves pumping iron in the weight room. On the contrary, strength training doesn’t have to involve any special equipment, other than the equipment you were born with. Our strength sessions for agility competitors will mostly rely entirely on body weight and can be done in the comfort of your own home.
By improving all-around strength, an agility competitor achieves a more efficient form that can endure over longer periods of time and distance. Strength training improves performance by strengthening specific muscles to iron out any imbalances. Additionally, better strength can lead to a more effective use of energy over a longer period (i.e. a weekend trial), and will allow for more consistent performance over several events. Improvements in strength can mean fewer injuries, allowing more time for doing what you (and your dog) love doing – agility!
Class is 4-50 min sessions @ $100 + tax.

AGILITY FLAT-WORK – SKILLS AND DRILLS
Let’s be honest, the equipment in dog agility is what is most appealing to us and we love teaching it to our dogs. Yet, flat-work is even more important and is where most problems stem from in a botched agility run with off courses, dropped bars and wide turns to name a few.
In Agility Flat-work, we will work on the following skills: Driving to a target, start line stays and restrained recalls, recall past distractions, front, rear and blind crosses on the flat, fast downs for the table, send outs around a cone from both directions and at increasing distances and drive forward from left and right. Join us for this fast paced class!
Class is 4-50 min sessions @ $100 + tax.

CAVALETTIS FOR BODY AWARENESS, STRENGTH AND STRIDE-WORK
Cavalettis is a fancy word for adjustable hurdles that can help your dog be a stronger competitor! They are used by competitors and trainers for building confidence and “body awareness”. Your dog walks over them in a row (they are not used for jumping).
What can your dog get from this class? Builds Confidence, Improves Coordination, Improves Core and Joint Strength, Improves Body (limb) Awareness and Lengthens Stride.
Who would benefit from this class? Adult dogs, Conformation Dogs, Dogs recently recovered from injury, Dogs that lack confidence, Dogs that lack core strength, Dogs with shortened stride and Puppies – before growth plate closer – limited repetition.
Class is 4-50 min sessions @ $100 + tax.

DREAM WEAVERS – CRASH COURSE
Weave poles can be the bane of your agility-related existence or they can be an exercise that your dog loves to perform and excel at. For students who want more time progressing the weave poles, this class will concentrate on strictly the weaves! All levels welcome as instruction will be tailored for each team to progress wherever you are in your training. More advanced students may add other obstacles to proof tricky entries / exits. We will be utilizing the channel and 2×2 weave training. This class is held two times a week for 3 weeks. Class is 6-50 min sessions @ $120 + tax.

JUMP JUMP JUMP
Jumping skills are no different than contact skills and weave pole entry skills — we must set aside time for our dogs to practice the skills separately from course and sequence work. Grids are a means of isolating the various aspects of jumping mechanics and allow time for your dog to practice jumping skills in a quiet, encouraging environment. Your dog can focus on his jumping skills so he can develop understanding and confidence and ultimately SPEED. It also aids in the development and maintenance of the muscles and core strength necessary for successful jumping.
Class is 4-50 min sessions @ $100 + tax.

Wag It Games!

How Much Fun Can One Dog Have?

Wag It Games are all about fun!
Wag It Games are a series of low stress games designed for you to have fun with your dog and build a stronger relationship.
Wag It Games are terrific preparation for any type of training you might want to do with your dog, building focus and a great foundation that will transfer to other activities.
Wag It Games has several divisions (Sniff it, Dog Ball, Quarry Quest, Water Skills, Obstacles and Agility).
Wag It Games are also appropriate for older dogs and dogs with physical limitations.

SNIFF IT
Trust in your dog’s ability to sniff out the good stuff. Dog driven fun!
Identify – Your dog will learn to search through 2 rows of 5 containers to find the one that has food or scent in it.
Search – Sniff It Search is about about navigating through a world of pop up tents to find the one that has the food or scent inside. Dogs love this stuff! It is so much fun to watch.

SHADOW GAMES
Heeling fun that teaches your dog to work on both your right and your left side. Working as a team you will perform a numbered course (similar to Rally-O) with twists and turns, changes in direction, speed and the side you are working on.

QUARRY QUEST
Dogs get the excitement of the hunt without live prey. They will be alerting to their Quarry (Raw Sheep Wool). They will demonstrate their ability to sniff out their “Quarry” in a ring full of obstacles.

AGILITY
A fun way for people and dogs interested in learning how to run an obstacle course, but are not necessarily interested in formal agility competition. Wag It Games Agility will teach the dogs a variety of obstacles and steeplechase courses. This is running and jumping for fun – every dogs dream! Dogs attending this course should be at least 6 months of age.

NO NEED FOR SPEED OBSTACLE SKILLS
As the name says there is no need for speed on this course making it a great choice if you like agility but just don’t want to move that fast. Your dog will learn to conquer the bridge, tunnel and hoops, to go around things, roll things with their nose, push buttons with their paws, stand on a perch and run through a ladder. How fun is that?

We are currently Licensed Instructors. In March 2019 we’ll be Certified Instructors and Master Instructor Judges
